James Black Family

James Black was the son of John Black (25 Dec 1778 Chester County, SC - Feb 1838 Madison County, TN) and Abilgail Bailey  (died 1830). James was born 2 Mar 1809 in Union County, South  Carolina and died 18 Jun 1869 in Bastrop County, Texas. He  married Ellender Whitlock(born 25 Jul 1814 South Carolina - died 1 May 1879) before 1834. Their children were Leonard  Black(8 Oct 1834 - ?),Nancy Ann Caroline Black(3 Jun 1836 TN - 6 Mar 1879 Bastrop County, TX), Eliza Jane Black (7 Jan 1838 TN - 2 Oct 1904 Pinson, Madison County, TN), John B. Black(24  Feb 1840 - Sep 1879),Sarah Elizabeth Black (5 Mar 1844 - 1 May  1877 Bastrop County, TX), Mary E. Black(16 May 1843 - ?),  Amanda Lou Black(20 Oct 1845 Madison County, TN - 14 May 1922 Bastrop County, TX), Thomas J. Black (1847 TN - ?), William Columbus Black (1850 TN - 1940 Madison County, TN), Noah Bradley Black (5 Oct 1854 Jackson, Madison County, TN - 29 Oct  1912 Driftwood, Hays County, TX)

 Nancy Ann Caroline Black married Laban L. House 25  Sep 1856 in Bastrop County, Texas (see Laban House Family). Following the death of Laban House in 1870 Nancy married James A. Fletcher(8 Dec 1833 - 16 Jun 1890) 7 Oct 1873 in Bastrop  County, Texas. They had two children: Charles F. Fletcher (23  Jun 1874 Bastrop County, TX - 3 Jul 1943 Galveston County, TX)  and Mattie Lula Fletcher (21 Jan 1876 Bastrop County, TX - 21 Jun 1889 Bastrop County, TX).

 Amanda Lou Black married John Pinkney Erwin28 Nov 1866 in Bastrop County, Texas. They had Sarah Ella Erwin (29 Aug 1867 - 14 Sep 1909 Bastrop County, TX).

 Noah Bradley Black married Amanda Virginia Garrett 21 Dec 1873 in Hays County, Texas. They had Minnie Lou Black, Lucy Eleanor Black, Garrett Black, and James Thomas Black.
