Richard Owston was born during 1779 in Thornholme, East Yorkshire England, was christened 10 Oct 1779 in Burton Agnes. He died 23 Jun 1863 in Driffield, East Yorkshire and was buried in the Driffield Churchyard. Tombstone is no longer in existence but records show he was buried in grave 124. He married Sarah Merry 21 Dec 1800 in Lockton, North Yorkshire. Sarah Merry was born 1777 in Lockton and died 26 Mar 1865 in Driffield. Francis Owston was the Vicar at Pirbright, Surrey for 40 years. Capt Francis Owston was a sea captain shipping out of England and was later a businessman in Japan. He first married Dickinson about 1800; she died about 1900. He then married Edith Flint Kilby in Japan during April 1907. He had no children by either marriage.
Alan Owston left England for the fareast while quite young. He was a collector of Asian wildlife as well as a businessman and yachtsman. An article in the June 1998 issue of National Geographic Magazine outlined his collecting. He married Shimada Rei Jkao about 1880 in Japan and one child resulted from this marriage; Susie Owston was born 20 Dec 1879 in Yokohama and died 4 Oct
1970 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. She married Rev. Wilford Mann 5 Oct 1896 in Dexter, Maine and their had : Muriel Mann (28 Oct 1898 New Jersey - 31 Oct 1982 San Antonio, Texas); Alan O. Mann (1 Feb 1907 - 18 Nov 1983 Washington D.C.).

Bertha Owston married Samuel Edwin Bean (18 Apr 1859 - 1951) during 1890 in West Mersea Parish Church, Essex, England with her father performing the ceremony. They had the following children
